The Grape A rare delicious Rhone variety with only 7 acres planted in Sonoma County. It is most often found as a minor component of some Rhone wines. Frick Cinsaut Is grown in Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County. Characteristic of the grape are large juicy olive shaped berries, Mid season ripener that needs heat to develop to full flavor.
The Vineyard Located on the dry, western bench of Dry Creek Valley Head pruned (not trellised) cinsaut vines grow in medium red, dusty clay soil. Non-irrigated (dry farmed). The vineyard is only 2 acres of cinsaut. 61 year old vines yield a small amount of the fragrant, fruity grape all destined for Frick Cinsaut wine.
The original varietal Cinsaut. Frick pioneered this variety as a varietal in California since 1989.This wonderful delicious classic continues with character of balanced cherry and raspberry flavors and aromas that carry through to spice on the dry earthy finish. Soft tannins. As a varietal,100% cinsaut. 22 months in 59 gallon casks.
