GARIBALDI Lot 8 Red Field Blend Estate Garibaldi Vineyard, Dry Creek Valley

$ 37.00

new

Tasting Notes:. Bright red. Fresh red fruit of raspberry,  cherry, pomegranate, prune. Dry tannins with lively complex finish.

 The Grapes: This is a historic old vine field blend. Carignane, Muscat Blanc, Valdegué, Grenache, Zinfandel, Mission, Grenache Blanc, Duriff, Palomino, Burger and Mourvèdre are some of the varieties that make up this blend.

My mother in law Babe Garibaldi resting on a ladder by the wine press. The Vineyard: This is the oldest block of vines on Frick Estate. Old Vine age is over 100 years. The block is tiny. The wine is rare. This vineyard is named Garibaldi to honor my wonderful mother-in-law Babe Garibaldi Gannon. This vineyard is an example of a rare field blend containing many varieties, red and white, growing  together in the same vineyard. My “museum” plot. All the varieties are harvested and fermented together.

The Wine: Truly small lot and special. This lot 8 is a blend of multiple years, 2023 and 2024.  Dark and light fruit character is both fresh fruit and dried fruit.  Drink now to 2030.

Serve with: Babe’s all-time favorite foods to cook and eat: grilled cheese sandwich, potato salad, zucchini frittata, spaghetti & gravy, leg of lamb plugged with garlic, minestrone soup, tuna melt, abalone, baked potato.
