Tasting Notes: Golden straw color. Aromas of pear, caramel. spice and perfume. Crisp flavors of green apple, pear, mango, kiwi, key lime, lemon, touch of peach. Ends dry with clean mineral edge. Flavors continue on to intrigue with a long finish.
The Grape: This white version of Grenache grows here in Owl Hill Vineyard. The grape skin has a golden color. It performs excellently in my warm summers and rocky soil, Produces wines that are rich, but with crisp refreshing acidity.
Rare. Only 4 versus 15,129 acres Chardonnay in Sonoma County.
The Vineyard: Frick Estate Owl Hill Vineyard, is on the south-facing hillsides near the winery. This tiny vineyard’s ground is rock, gravel and clay from decomposed Dry Creek Conglomerate soil. In this soil the vines have very low vigor and they produce a limited crop with distinctive, full, rich and classic Grenache Blanc character.
The Wine: 100% Grenache Blanc. Delicious with a lean refreshing body. The flavors are mouth filling, zesty and lingering. Neutral barrel fermented and aged.
