(Library) CARIGNANE 2020 Estate Gannon Vineyard, Dry Creek Valley

$ 58.00

Tasting Notes: Plum, red currant, strawberry, boysenberry, cranberry, blackberry, pomegranate, coriander seed, rosemary. Bright crisp finish.

The Grape:  The grape was once very common in California with a large number of acres planted. But most of this variety was pulled out to replant to the now well know varieties. A grape that I respect for its full fruit character spiced with earth and tannin. Some don't like to grow it because it susceptible to powdery mildew when planted in the wrong place.

 The Vineyard: Frick Estate Gannon Vineyard, the section on the south facing slope across the gully from the tasting house. A long day of sun exposure and red clay soil makes the site ideal for Carignane.

The Wine:
 A rare 100% carignane wine. In this wine you will discover the intrigue of carignane on its own. A unique, memorable character. Subtle and elegant in style from an old-fashioned classic grape.

Drink now through 2033.  108 cases made.
